Jim personality type is INFP, as are the majority of the people I know. So I can't say that this is a defining characteristic of every INFP.
What is, however, is that I am a carefree and whimsical individual who, much of the time, operates on intuition and has a tendency to try to see the positive in everything. I have a strong sense of empathy and try to see things from other people's perspectives in order to understand their actions and motivations. I am very empathetic and somewhat emotional, and therefore can be very kind and open-hearted, but I often feel like I am not as tough as I'd like to be, and I am prone to worry about things that others might not worry about.
I tend to be more on the introverted side and less on the extroverted side. This makes me very self-contained, which some people might find off-putting, but in my opinion, it is better to focus on the things that are uniquely yours than to try to be like everyone else. I am very independent, and often feel like I don't want to be dependent on anyone else for anything.
