Binho was a dedicated player and a fierce competitor, who never backed down from a challenge. He was the first Brazilian at Stanford to ever play in the NCAA Tournament, and he led his team to the Sweet 16 in 2006. He went on to lead the Cardinal to the Final Four in 2007, where they lost to eventual champion, Ohio State.
In 2010, Binho came back to his alma mater as an assistant coach. He was named the associate head coach for the 2013-2014 season, and became the head coach of the Stanford women’s team in 2015.
“I’m so grateful and honoured and thankful and humbled and all those things,” Binho said. “I’ve been blessed with this opportunity and I’m just going to do my best.”
