What this says is that Myers-Briggs is not consistent with itself. The basic premise that is supposedly behind the MBTI assessment is that there are four “types” of human beings. Each type has a characteristic way of perceiving the world, and a set of preferences and attitudes that generally lead people in a particular direction.
At a superficial level, this makes sense. But upon further examination, it is rather obvious that this is entirely based on arbitrary statistical observations.
It is clear that the MBTI assessment does not “work” as intended, as you can see from the fact that there are three, not four, types. The reason for this is because the MBTI assessment has no basis in reality, or in any objective evidence.
This is because there are other ways of classifying things than the MBTI. For example, there are systems and data that allow you to calculate a “type” for every individual human being. In fact, there are entire companies that can help you do this for your company, or for your organization.
The only problem is that such systems and data are based on objective, quantitative evidence.
