The game's art direction and character design are said to be based on the fashion of 1960s and 1970s, a period of time in which feminism was rising. Daisuke Watanabe and Masato Kato, who previously worked with Ishikawa on "Final Fantasy X-2", are credited for the original work on "Eternal Sonata". Watanabe was also involved with the project as a scenario writer, while Kato served as art director.
