Hermod was originally a demigod who was summoned by Odin to help him fight back against the giants of Jotunheim. He was told that if he helped Odin, he would be made an Aesir in the future, but only if he didn't fight back against them. As a result, Odin gave him his own set of six weapons, which he uses in the series. He also had to take part in Ragnarok, which he does in the series. He helped create Ragnarok in the series, leading to the destruction of all worlds except for Asgard.
