The following is a list of terms that I’ve learned about as I’ve explored the inner workings of my own and others’ personalities:
The Rational-Intuitive (Ti) and Feeling (Fe) dichotomy: these two functions make up each person’s personality. The Rational function is concerned with logic and precise thinking, and the Feeling function with our subjective experiences. There are other functions that can be used to describe our personalities, but these two main functions are the most important.
Primary and Secondary functions: the first function we use after we’ve learned our language of choice is called our Primary function. For example, I currently use the Ti function to explore my world and understand myself, and I use the Ne function to be funny and understand other people. My second function is used to express and understand my feelings.
Extraverted vs. Introverted: we can be either extraverted or introverted. Extraverts tend to focus on the world and other people, and introverts focus on themselves and their own world. ENFPs are both extraverted and introverted.
