Background
He was born and raised in Tokyo until the age of 3, when his father decided to move overseas to America. Ichika lived with his mother and little sister in Tokyo while his father worked in the US. After coming back from America, his father decided to move back to Japan and brought Ichika and his mother back to Tokyo. At 13 years old, he moved with his father to America again to live with him for a year. During this period, his father had serious heart problems, but was brought back to health by the doctors in America. He moved back with his family after a year.
After moving back to Japan, Ichika's life changed drastically. He was bullied for being Japanese, made fun of for not being able to speak English, and ignored for being Japanese. He was forced to wear traditional Japanese clothing because of that, but his mother refused to let him wear Western clothes. Instead she made him wear Japanese clothing that was comfortable, but was still formal enough to be acceptable in school.
