Dwayne Wayne is a famous American Rapper, Actor, and Entrepreneur. He is best known for being one-half of the rap duo Kid ‘n Play, along with his childhood friend O’Shea Jackson Jr.
Dwayne Wayne was born on February 21, 1971 in South Shore, Chicago, Illinois. He was raised by a single mother who worked multiple jobs to support her son and herself.
He attended local schools and was always interested in music. By the age of 13, Wayne became the lead singer of a five-man band called 7th Street. The band played mostly on the street corners and at local parties in the Woodlawn neighborhood. The band eventually changed their name to Kid N Play and began performing at local talent shows.
At the age of 16, Kid N Play were invited to open for Run-DMC at a nightclub in Chicago. Unfortunately, the band broke up shortly after this performance.
Dwayne Wayne began his music career in 1991, when he and O’Shea Jackson Jr became members of the Chicago hip hop group Kid N Play.
