Jim personality type is ISTJ, and the type that emerges from the combination of his mother's Si and father's Te is the one we are born with. So, if I were to say that Jim is a "typical" ISTJ, I would be wrong. He may be typical for his family, but not for himself.
Jim is different from other ISTJs because of his feelings. His feelings are stronger and more intense than those of most ISTJs I have met, including his own mother. It's true that Jim is not very empathetic. He doesn't really try to understand other people's emotions or thoughts. In fact, he thinks he doesn't have any emotions. If he feels something, it's "alright" for him to express it.
Jim is also very independent. He does things his way, and he does not appreciate anyone telling him what to do. He also likes to take care of himself, since he tends to feel that he is not very dependable (which makes sense when you look at his childhood).
Jim is also very stubborn. He thinks his way is the only possible way to do things and he can't be persuaded otherwise.
