Well, as I looked at these two shows, I saw something very interesting.
Both shows are dominated by females. In both shows, females make up more than 75% of the main characters, and in both shows, the female characters are pretty much all drawn from a fairly narrow set of personality types.
I can see why that might be a turn-off.
