Chapter 1: A New Life
"Jude?" Judy asked her mother, who was sitting at the table with a book, "Is everything OK? You haven't called me in almost a week."
"Yeah, I'm fine," Judy's mother said to her daughter. "I just needed some time to myself."
"Mom, what's wrong?"
"Nothing is wrong, Judy," Judy's mother said, "I just need to take some time for myself. I'm sorry."
Judy knew that her mother was lying, but didn't want to push her. She had been doing a lot of that lately. Judy knew that things weren't right, but she didn't know how to fix them.
