Carl Grimes is the deuteragonist first encountered in Issue 2 of Image Comics' The Walking Dead, as well as the protagonist of the final issue. He is the son of Rick and Lori and the half-brother of Judith Grimes. He joined Shane with Lori to travel to Atlanta, for the refugee camp.
As time goes on, Carl slowly becomes hardened, due to the severe loss of life of the loved ones around him. He has also had to adapt to the new world which Rick was reluctant for him to do, but has done so with as much brutality and animosity as him. Carl is one of the two remaining Atlanta survivors and is the sole surviving member of his family.
Several years after his father's death, Carl followed his example and became a role model for the communities, while also acting as a messenger for the Commonwealth. He got married to Sophia and they conceived a daughter, whom he named after his beloved stepmother.
