His parents wanted him to play sports but he lacked the courage to do so. He did not know how to talk. He had problems with his classmates. He was bullied and was called "the silent one" in school. He had a grudge against anyone who bullied him. He does not like to talk about his childhood.

    Hayama's parents were divorced when he was in elementary school, and he moved with his mother to Niigata City. His mother remarried and Hayama went to live with his stepfather for the rest of elementary school. He was bullied by his new classmates for being a bad student. In middle school, he lived alone and felt insecure about his future, so he kept to himself and retreated to his room often to hide from his classmates. He began skipping school regularly. He went on to high school never having learned to talk, and came off as antisocial.

    At the age of seventeen, Hayama realized he had no future and took an overdose of sleeping pills.
