Oh personality type is INFP, as is mine, so I can understand their predicament.
My advice to those who have been burned by the system is this:
1. Make sure you have a job at any public library in the state of California.
2. Make sure the job is a really nice one that pays really well and involves a lot of autonomy and flexibility.
3. If you’re going to work in a library, make sure you do it for at least a year before making a decision about your career path.
4. And don’t be a jerk to other people. Seriously.
The other type of burnout I’ve been dealing with lately is from reading other people’s projects, which is not something I enjoy doing, but it’s something I have to do if I want to build a career in comics. Reading other people’s work is a necessary evil in the world of comics, and I’m going to have to get used to it.
