Personal History
The two were once partners in crime, responsible for the theft of an ancient relic. While they weren't responsible for the theft, they did use it to their own ends. The relic was a mask, mask of the Masks of the Masks, mask of the Masks of the Masks. The two used the mask to use its powers to steal something, but it wasn't something they wanted, but something they needed. The two were contacted by a dark entity, who was trying to get the mask's power into its hands, in order to recreate the Mask of Power, which he needed in order to rule the world. The two were then forced to steal it from the museum, where it was being kept. They fled, but not before being pursued by the dark entity.
The two reached a nearby town, but they were too late - the dark entity had already got his hands on the mask. He went on to use the mask's power to become all-powerful. They tried to stop him, but they were too late.
