Donahue, who was a professor at the University of Nevada, Reno, for more than 30 years, was also a member of the Nevada Senate from 1987 to 1993. She retired in 1995 after 30 years teaching at UNR.
"I was a teacher for so long," she says. "It would have been nice to have been a legislator."
In 2008, Donahue was inducted into the Nevada Women's Hall of Fame. She also is a member of the Reno Philharmonic Society and a past president of the Nevada State Retired Teachers Association.
