Rion personality type is INFP, INTP or ISTP. The other four types have a lot of type 8 characteristics, but they are also typified by a lot of negative traits, so they’re not as interesting.
I think this is a good example of the difference between personality and typing. The personality is much more complex than the type. I’m not saying there’s nothing to be learned from type, but I am saying that there’s a lot more to be learned by exploring the personality in depth.
The type is a shorthand. It has some value because it helps us to understand others and ourselves, but it doesn’t always tell us everything. It tells us something about how we process information and how we communicate, but it doesn’t tell us about our motivations, about what we want or what we are looking for.
This is one of the main reasons I don’t use my type as a crutch—to avoid thinking about myself and my motivations. I think this may be especially true for introverted and intuitive types who have a tendency to be self-focused and oblivious to others.
