Rumpelstiltskin personality type is INFP, in my opinion. I think it's a more general personality type that has a big Ra-Ne, which is why he changes them into the opposite of their original personality.
Is that an accurate assessment? I just read the book, and he doesn't strike me as an INFP.
As for Merlin, I believe that he's ENTP or INFJ. He's got a dominant function of Ti, but he's also got Ne and Te sitting right next to it. He's a bit of a schemer, not as overt as Rumpelstiltskin, but he's still a bit manipulative.
I don't think you're going to find a true Rumpelstiltskin INFP, though. I don't know if they exist in fiction, but they're real in real life. INFP personality type is the most common of the NF personality types that are the "Rumpelstiltskin" personality types. That said, there are some resons why most of the "Rumpelstiltskin" personality types aren't NF's. First, NF's are more likely to have a tertiary Ne than an auxiliary Ne.
