Philippe de Villiers, born on March 25, 1949 in Boulogne (Vendée), is a French civil servant, politician and writer.
In 1978, he created the night show La Cinéscénie in the Vendée, which he then transformed into an amusement park, the Puy du Fou. He resigned from the sub-prefecture following the election of François Mitterrand as President of the Republic.
He was Secretary of State for Culture from 1986 to 1987, in the Chirac II government. He was then a member of parliament, president of the General Council of the Vendée and a European deputy. Founder and president of the Mouvement pour la France (MPF), a sovereignist political party, he ran for president in 1995 and 2007.
During his political career and in his books, he defends the Christian roots of France and opposes the process of Islamization which, according to him, affects the country.
