The cast of characters is a hodgepodge of different types, who, if they’re not the main character, at least exists around him. I can only imagine the level of org chart jockeying that goes on behind the scenes in these shows. For a show that often feels like it’s in a constant state of process, it’s nice to see how much we actually do know about these characters.
The big issue is that this show is so procedural. It’s more procedural than Breaking Bad, and that show is pretty procedural. I don’t think the proceduralism will bother me, but I do wish there was more story to go with the proceduralism. The characters are interesting, the setting is interesting, but there’s not much to it. I love a good procedural, and I love a show with a compelling villain, but I also love a show with characters I actually care about.
I feel like this show is trying too hard to have its cake and eat it too.
