Seitarou Tanabata is a Japanese tale, where the stars each represent a person’s wish. The story tells of a boy who found a wish-granting “fishing rod”. The boy uses the rod to wish for a beautiful princess. And over the years, people seeing the rod and the stars, and the tale itself, believe that each star has a wish and that if you can find the right person and wish for your own star, it will grant that wish.
As we can see, this is a very idealistic and sweet tale. But as we know, the story itself is optimistic and hopeful, and even as a kid I liked it. I thought it was awesome that I could wish for anything I wanted, and I really thought it was awesome that those wishes would come true. I liked the story so much that I created my own version of it.
I didn’t have a fishing rod though, but I did have a wish.
