In this case, my client was not able to get a job because he did not have a clean work history. He was very concerned that he may have to leave his current job if he could not get the necessary work history.
For him, it was the end of the world. He was already feeling like a loser. He had already been told that he was lazy and stupid, and now he was being told that he would not be able to find a job because of some minor infractions.
I explained that he needed to make an effort to find a job, and that I would deal with the paperwork for him. I said that I would make it seem like he had a clean history, and that I would ask for a little help from his manager or HR person in getting a job for him.
I explained that I would need the help of his manager or HR person to get him a job and then I would report back to him on how it went.
