Something the So and So personality type is INFP, the Feeling function is Ni, and Extraverted Feeling is Fi.

The point is, it's a very complex thing, and I'm pretty sure Ni is more of a useful starting point. I can't speak for everybody, but I definitely think Ni is more useful than Fi. This isn't the case for everybody, however. Some people seem to be more sensitive to emotions than others, so perhaps they are more affected by one than the other. But I think Ni is more "useful" for normal people than Fi.
