En 1986, il crée et dirige le groupe Quartier latin international qui lancera des jeunes talents comme Suzuki Luzubu 4x4, Bouro Mpela et d'autres qui deviendront des stars africaines comme Fally Ipupa. Il lance son propre label Koffi Central en 2013. En quarante années de carrière, Koffi Olomidé a enregistré 28 albums studio dont 7 signés avec le Quartier Latin et un en collaboration avec Papa Wemba et 18 albums live pour un total de plus de 300 chansons. Son travail lui vaudra 7 Kora Awards dont 4 durant l'édition de 2002 grâce à son album Effrakata.
