Canticles of Creation is my favorite among all of the works that I’ve read in this category. The two main reasons are, first, that it is a real Canticle of Creation, in the sense that the author was able to actually record an actual canticle that he heard in his own head. He was able to write down the words spoken in the real world, but this poem is clearly his own creation, in which he tells us about his experience in hearing this canticle. The second reason is that it shows the inner life of the narrator, in a way that is very similar to how I saw my own life in my four-year-old self. His thoughts are portrayed through the journal entries of his childhood, which are very similar to previous diary entries by me, but with a few notable changes in detail. For example, in my earliest diary entries I wrote about how my imaginary friend, Princess Cicely, had gone missing. Now I see that my imaginary friend, Princess Cicely, was actually me.
The book also shows me how I learned to understand the world, through my interactions with other people.
