Art The Clown personality type is ENTP, and is described as: "The clown is always "on", and often appears to be "off", but never really is. He is brilliant, witty, and very inventive, even as he teases and amuses. His humor is often sarcastic and cutting, and his ability to manipulate people of all ages and of all types is astounding. He has an uncanny ability to intuitively sense your deepest needs and transform them into pure comedy."

The type of clown referred to here is the traditional clown—the red nose and overalls and so on—which is associated with children and with the type of performance of the Jesters of the Middle Ages. Clowns in modern times are more likely to be associated with people who are very socially adept in getting attention. They are always aware of the audience's expectations, and they know how to play up to them. To some extent, this is in contrast to the Art The Clown, who really isn't in your face, but rather seems to be off in his own world.

The Art The Clown has a very good memory for external events, but his internal life is much less well structured. He has a much better memory for experiences than he does for internal thought.

Thornton reprises the role in Terrifier 2 Art has become a popular figure in the horror genre. Art has been featured in a variety of merchandise such as action figures and in body tattoos. The character appears in the limited edition comic book retelling of the 2016 film.
