The true story of the comic book character Atlanna is this:
Atlanna is the mother of Aquaman, who was born during World War II, but his father is unknown. Atlanna was born in the Amazon, her mother being a local tribal princess. She was raised by her grandfather, an immortal wizard named Thalena.
Atlanna met Aquaman after he was sent to investigate Atlantis after hearing rumours of a beautiful woman being brought into the village for healing. Atlanna was the only one who could heal the mystical cancer that was killing her husband and she fell in love with him.
They were married and had a son who they named Atlan. A year later, they discovered that Aquaman's father was Poseidon and Atlan died shortly afterward, leaving his mother to raise him alone.
Atlanna and Aquaman moved to the US and lived on a small, isolated island where they could raise their son in peace. Atlanna became pregnant again and had another son. Unfortunately, their second son died shortly after birth due to complications of birth.
