I’m not a big fan of typing. I think it’s a bit of a mistake to label anyone as anything. While I do see the value of the symbology, I just cramp over the fact that the “types” label one person as this, and another as that. It’s not an accurate reflection of someone’s personality.
Plato called this into question, as well. In his dialogue The Republic (around 380 BC), he talks about the Ideal Form of the Good, or the Form of the Good, being both invisible and formless. And he says:
“All of us are agreed that we have seen each of the [ideal] forms and that they differ in no way, except that we have not seen all of them, nor do we know them all; and we are right in thinking that we know and see the men to be in our cities and our country, but we do not know and do not see the true forms which are perfect.”
