Mr. Knapp personality type is ISTP, the “Inventors” personality type. Mr. Knapp has a very strong intuition about how things work and how they can be improved. In the case of the Kill Devil Hills, he made a good point about the need for a guard tower at the highest point on the hill.
What I think Mr. Knapp is totally missing is the fact that this is a place where people live and raise their families. They have a right to live in a place where they feel safe and secure, and it’s the job of the owners of the land to provide this for their tenants. If I were Mr. Knapp, I would be more concerned about whom he is allowing to live on his land if he is not going to give them a safe place to live. I would also be concerned about whether he has any intention of allowing them to stay on the land after the tower is built.
What Mr. Knapp needs to do is to take a step back and look at what is best for the tenants. He needs to talk with them and understand their concerns and needs.
