Sun Ce's Battle of Xiapi
Sun Ce was born in the year 1525, in the city of Xiapi in what is now Shaanxi Province. His ancestors were farmers, but he was more interested in martial arts than farming. Sun Ce became a martial arts master by age 12. He was known for his incredible strength and prowess with a sword.
At the age of 20, Sun Ce led an army of about 30,000 men against a southern army of about 10,000 men led by a general named Huang Gai. Sun Ce was considered a prodigy at his young age and he defeated Huang Gai at Xiapi.
Huang Gai's army was defeated and Huang Gai was captured. In his old age, Huang Gai was executed by his own subordinates. In recognition for his victory over Huang Gai, Sun Ce was made the General of the Left (右將軍) from 1550-51.
