(Fun fact: this is the first personality type I ever learned about on my own, which was in the seventh grade. This was the first time I had ever really paid attention to personality types. I still don’t know why I was like, “Oh, I know what this is. Let me share it with the world!” But I did.)
I love using personality types to explain behavior to my friends, and I think it’s an interesting way of understanding human behavior. I also think it’s really cool that I found out about my type before I even knew what it was called.
Personality types are super controversial in the MBTI community, however. It’s not uncommon for an ISTP with a high degree of introversion to have, say, a MBTI INFJ for a significant other. And contrary to popular belief, INFJs are not always “the best match” with the ISTP personality.
