Her character is based on the real life Akimoto, who was the daughter of a murdered serial killer. In the anime, Akimoto's mother was murdered by her father's accomplice who also killed her mother's boyfriend. This event affected Akimoto's life in many ways. She was raised in an orphanage, adopted by a loving family, and became a police officer to fight against evil. Of course, her entire family history has been changed in the anime, but she has always had a close connection to fellow Fuka-Eri from the start. She's also someone who can be very scary when she needs to be, which is what happened when the Detective Boys are being kidnapped.
