Jorden van Foreest is the main character in the Feenstra & Jorden Van Foreest series. He is an intelligent, mysterious, and somewhat jaded young man who comes to the town of Macon in central Arkansas to help his father. He is also the narrator of the series. Jorden is a former military intelligence officer who has worked under many aliases. He is currently working as a private contractor for the U.S. Department of Defense.
His childhood was mostly unhappy due to his eccentric, controlling mother who was mortally obsessed with celebrities, fictional characters, and the occult. She was also a self-harming sadist who tortured Jorden and his sister, Cassie.
Jorden’s father, Dr. John van Foreest, taught at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He was a respected researcher in psychology and neurophysiology who had received a grant from NASA to study the brainwave patterns of astronauts during space travel.
John’s work was going very well until it was discovered that Jorden had been brainwashed into assassinating him by his mother.
