He was also inspired by his mother, who worked in the local hospital in his hometown, Bandung.
"My mother was not only a teacher but also a nurse," he says. "She was always helping people."
Riyadi has always been interested in medicine. He says he wants to continue his education to become a physician. He also dreams of becoming a politician for Indonesia's opposition party.
"I want to do something that I believe in," he explains. "I believe politics should be based on moral principles."
Riyadi is president of the NGO Kids' Generation Foundation, which aims to provide support for children who have been victims of violence, crime, or natural disasters. The organization also provides scholarships for children who need them.
"Because of my background, I've seen a lot of children who are traumatized," he says.
