The ESFJ personality type is the second most common in the UK, making up around 23% of the population. ESFJs are warm and caring individuals who give their all to their jobs, relationships and the people in their lives.
“They are approachable, gentle and sincere, although sometimes they can appear a little hesitant and lacking in confidence,” says Marsha Linehan, PsyD, co-developer of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, who has worked with thousands of ESFJs. “They are loyal and steadfast friends, especially if they feel the ESFJ has helped them in some way.”

However, there is one thing that Linehan says ESFJs should avoid—and that’s overworking themselves. “They need to remember to take time out for themselves and recharge,” she continues. “This is even more important for ESFJs because they are so driven.”
Still, ESFJs do not let this ability to get stuck in the day-to-day grind stop them from being close friends to others.
