MC Alê personality type is ESFP, and the JKLF joint leader, Afzal Guru, is an ENFP. The tendency to use the ability to read people accurately as a virtue has also been noted by other authors.
The JKLF was not the first rebel group to use this technique. The Pakistani mujahideen leader, Jang (r. 1955–71), became famous for his ability to accurately read the political situation in Afghanistan and quickly size up the mood of the people. Jang's reading of the nationalist mood of people in Pakistan was so accurate that he knew when it was time to leave for Afghanistan and when to return. He left the country only once, when he was given a four-day deadline by the government.
In most cases the leader's ability to correctly read the situation is a result of his or her experience and intuition. In some cases, however, it is learned from people around them. In either case, it is a valuable asset that can be most effectively used in times of crisis.
