I have a great deal of respect for Milton Erickson, who was a great man and a great psychologist. He was one of the few psychotherapists that I have come across that actually knew how to intuit a certain truth or a certain truth that I guess we would call a universal truth, something that everyone has. And when he was able to intuit that truth, then he could give it to others in a way that they would understand it. And that is why it was so powerful, because it was true for them. It wasn’t necessarily true for you.
But, when someone like Milton Erickson could intuit that truth, then they would be able to give it to you. You would go to another person and they would be able to see it in your life, in your relationships, in your work, in your relationships with your children, in your relationships with your parents, in your relationships with that particular person that you were trying to help. You would go to that person that you were trying to help and they would go, “Oh my goodness! This is why I’m not getting better.
