Cyrus Montrose is a male character who first appeared in the first season episode "A Hero's Welcome". He is a recent arrival to Springfield and one of the first people to be brought to the Simpson family after they move to the city. Cyrus is first noticed by Homer and Marge Simpson and Bart and Lisa Simpson as he tries to enter the Simpsons' house, but the doorkeeper refuses to allow him entry as he does not have an invitation. Rather than leave, he decides to stay for the night and endures sleeping in the front yard.
The next morning, Cyrus attempts to learn everything about the Simpsons as they have been living in Springfield for six months. While he is at their home, Homer is out at a nearby park, but is called back when a cat has fallen from a tree and is looking for a home. Cyrus offers to be its new owner and Homer agrees.
Later on, Cyrus appears again, this time being caught by Marge Simpson after he tries to steal from her. He is then discovered by Bart and Lisa Simpson who have been searching for him.
