Steve Dayton / Mento personality type is ESFP, can you tell us about the process of developing your music?
I think that every artist develops their sound over time. I started piano when I was 5 years old. Soon after I began playing I began exploring music theory, learning to play by ear, and before I knew it I was composing music.
I think that because I was so young when I began playing, I was able to learn the basics of music theory and composition quickly. As I got older I began writing my own songs and eventually formed a band.
I think it's also important to have a unique sound as an artist. When people hear my music they know that it's me. I'm proud of my style and I think it's important to maintain that through all of my work.
What or who has influenced your musical work?
There are so many influences behind the music that I make. I discovered jazz, funk, and blues early on in my musical development.
