This is a common enough trope that I want to avoid referencing it, but it’s a good example of why knowing your character’s type is important. It’s interesting to note that the Matrix is an ISTP character, but with a dominant Ne.
However, the real reason that the Matrix is an ISTP is because most of the film is spent in the “dream world” of the Architect’s computer system. It doesn’t end up being a lot of action in the Matrix, because most of it takes place in this virtual world. As with any ISFJ character, when they are in the real world, they are basically in their own little world. When the Matrix becomes real, the Architect’s computer system, which ISFJs are very fond of, becomes their own little world. It’s why Ne is so important in the real world in these types.
