I could go on from there, but my point is that the “same” child can be very different in the way he expresses himself, depending on the environment and circumstances. For example, let’s say you have a 5-year-old girl who is very forward with her personality. She may tell you that she prefers her life this way, or she may tell you she hates it and wants to be a boy. You may not believe that she’s expressing what she truly feels, but if you take her at her word and actually follow her lead, your life could be quite different.
I did this as a parent on occasion, and I know many people do it all the time with their children. They might say they hate school, or they might say they don’t like their classmates. They say they want to be an artist or a doctor… whatever. But if you try to react to it and make them “be” that way, instead of “acting” that way, it can turn out very differently for them.
