Lorenzo St. John was born on July 14, 1969, in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was the oldest child of two college professors. He grew up in the Washington, D.C., metro area, attending private schools and living in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the country.
St. John describes his upbringing as “perfectly normal,” but that the St. Johns went to church occasionally and were deeply involved in their children’s lives. St. John knew he was different from other boys early on, but his family was kind enough to let him discover himself at his own pace.
