Garm's first appearance was in the 1989 anime series Voltron: Defender of the Universe, which was based on an American cartoon called Power Rangers Zeo. Garm would not appear again until Voltron Force, where he was created along with Gaius, his robot form.
Garm is the only other character besides Princess Allura to appear in both seasons of the American series. He also appeared in the first two seasons of the 2003 version of the show. He returned in the Lion Force episode "The Return of Zarkon", and in the final part of the Beast Morphers saga, "The Black Lion", and in the final part of season three of the re-imagined series, "Black Lion's Pride", and appeared in the fifth and final part of the season, "The Viper". Garm made a cameo appearance in the episode "The New Recruits" that aired on December 4, 2012.
