A drama queen is someone who has a strong emotional reaction to things. They want the world to be plunged into darkness so they can shine as the hero who saves it. Seyfried’s performance was so strong, it turned her into the Queen of the World and she’s not happy about it.
To Seyfried’s credit, she was also very good in The Fifth Estate and has other roles that hint at her potential as a leading actress. This is why we need to give her time and not write her off as a one hit wonder.
Her performance in Me Before You was not good enough for me to want to see her in more films. I’ll give her another chance, but I don’t think I’ll spend my money on tickets to see her.
I’m not saying she should have gone over the top and overacted. That would have been a great performance. I’m saying she should have been able to keep everything in check and not let the histrionics take over.
