INFJs prefer to spend time alone to more fully develop their personal relationships. They can get easily overwhelmed by the demands of too many people in their lives. They often want to maintain a safe distance from others, and this can make them seem aloof or standoffish. It is difficult for INFJs to know how to respond when someone approaches them with questions about whether they are available or interested, because they would rather limit their interaction with the world to the few people they choose to pursue a deeper connection with.
