FujĪ Minoru was born on January 5, 1883, in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, as the eldest son of a samurai family. In 1889 he moved with his parents to Tokyo. He had a difficult childhood and was often bullied. His father died in 1896 and he had to take over his business.
In 1910 he started his own company and by 1920 he was one of the wealthiest men in Japan. He used his wealth to pursue his own interests and expand his business. He invested in the film industry and made some of the first Japanese films. He also invested in building of new infrastructure such as airports, roads and new factories.
As a businessman he was progressive and innovative, and was involved in all of his business activities. He also acted as a technological advisor to the government on ways to develop the country’s industries and economy. He had a lot of social and charitable work to do as well, and made donations to universities and hospitals.
FujĪ Minoru died on May 24, 1965, and is buried at the Meiji Shrine in Tokyo.
