Owen J. Foot personality type is ISTJ, the Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, Judging type. Based on my experience, I feel that this is the most accurate explanation of personality type that I've read. I think it would be fair to say that Myers and Briggs would be more accurate if they excluded the irrational functions and the extraverted sensing and introverted thinking, but this would make the MBTI an even more complex assessment tool.
I think the Myers-Briggs type is a very good description of a person, but it is not a complete or accurate description of all the person's characteristics. The Myers-Briggs type is a generalization of a person's personality traits. My research has shown that true psychological type is a much richer concept than Myers-Briggs can describe. Psychological type includes the person's cognitive style, as well as their preferences in social and physical environments.
Myers-Briggs can be used to get an idea of the way that a person thinks and processes information. Psychological type can be used to describe a person's unique preferences for certain kinds of people, places, and things.
