Masachika was born on the island of Hoshino, and moved to Tokyo as a child. He was an only child, and lived with his mother and father. As a young child, Masachika enjoyed reading stories of fairies and princesses.
Youth
Masachika had a strong sense of justice as a child. He admired the detective novels of Nobuko Imai, and was inspired to become an investigator like her. He had a special interest in the supernatural and crime novels featuring strange phenomena, and he often thought about strange stories he read.
University
Masachika attended Keio University, where he majored in criminal psychology and law enforcement. He was a good student, and got good grades in his classes. On his way to school, Masachika would often see people experiencing supernatural phenomena, such as strange lights or sounds that wouldn't make sense. This made him think that there was something strange going on.
Masachika Kumeno (粂くめ野の匡まさ近ちか, Kumeno Masachika?) was a Demon Slayer closely acquainted with the current Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa.
Not much is known about Masachika's personality, however, he was likely a very kind person, befriending Sanemi and even introducing him to someone that could help train him.[1] In his will, Masachika considered Sanemi as a brother and wished the best for his loved ones.[2]
