So, when I saw the announcement for this book, I figured I'd check it out. And I'm glad I did, because it is an excellent book.
The book is written in two parts: the first half of the book is a case study of a fictional character, and the second half of the book is a how-to guide. I'll talk about the case study in detail in my next post, but here's a summary for now:
The book is about a psychologist who has been hired by a small town to run a behavioral clinic for kids. He's a process-oriented psychologist, and his style is to look at each kid and try to figure out what he or she needs in terms of psychological counseling. He has a good rapport with the parents, which helps him to understand what's going on at home, and he also gets to know the kids, which helps him get a sense of their personalities.
The story begins when one of the kids comes to him with a serious problem.
