He did not know what was happening in the world and did not understand what the White Fang were doing aside from clearing the lands of Grimm. He did not know why he was given such a power until his mother told him that it was for his own protection.
He was unaware of the fact that he had a power until he was fifteen and had been attempting to unlock it for weeks without any success until his mother told him to try and connect with the White Fang and the Schnee Dust Company. Then, after years of training and pain and suffering, he finally unlocked his power and defeated Cinder Fall with it.
